You can't give what you don’t have

“You cannot pour from an empty cup” We have all heard this before.

But what does it mean??

It means:

When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.” –Eleanor Brown.

But as a mother it seemed, selfish to do that.

Even when I tried, I was full of guilt.

I was doing everything, yet I felt empty and unsatisfied.

Then I read somewhere, you are a better parent when you are committed to taking care of yourself.

I decided, I needed to be a better parent, and all fell in place.

To try and help all the loving mothers, I have made a small list of, how to start to love yourselves and keep the cup full.

*Start with writing a list, of the things you would like to do. (example: walking, reading, meditation, etc)

*Start small,10 min is enough. (schedule it in the day,10 min is not hard)

*Make a small change to your diet (start by adding 2 extra glasses of water)

*Feel good about what you have achieved in the day and have gratitude towards it.

*Take 3 deep breaths in the open air.

*Ask for help –big or small but reach out.

*Plan, prepare and execute. Don’t just think about it ..do it.

One thing I’ve learned about self-care is, it’s for yourself, you are allowed to do it the way you like it.

Just be true to yourself.

With just a little bit of self-care, you will feel more connected to yourself and the world around you.
